a is wrong. An offer of a unilateral contract is irrevocable once the offeree begins performance.

b is wrong. Not only is this not a bilateral contract, the statement isn't even true.

c is wrong. Maryanne can get out of her promise by paying Amber $7500 only if Amber agrees to it (called an "accord").

d is the only reasonable answer.

D -- none of the above.

It's a unilateral contract -- which can only be accepted by completion. And normally, a contract can be withdrawn any time prior to acceptance.

However, as an exception, the law creates an option to accept (by completing performance) once a person has substantially started performing. Amber started performing -- and the law will allow her to finish, or to say she won't finish -- but Maryanne cannot withdraw the offer until then.
