What is the best time to leave, morning or afternoon?

We did this last year and it took us about 3 1/2- 4 hours to get there; this was with a stop in Barstow(outlets) for about 30-45 mins. It's not a bad drive at all, just take along some good CD's..enjoy! We had read some bad experience online but it wasn't that bad..we left kinda early though!

Depending on your speed, it should only take 4.5-5 hours depending on breaks and traffic delays. Best time, early morning, maybe 6 am to beat the traffic.
Coming back could take 6-11 hours.
Getting there is not the problem or time consuming. Coming back is. Leave around 6-7 pm and you should be home around midnite and maybe take 5-6 hours.
