Statistically it depends on what part of the world you are in. In the US for example, bees are responsible for more human deaths than venomous snakes. In Africa, hippos and certain species of venomous snakes kill more people than any other animal, and so on throughout the world.
Bacteria cannot be counted because bacteria are not animals. But it is true that disease is the number one killer planet-wide so I think the person who said disease carrying insects would be the most correct.

I would say for non-insect sources (meaning disease carriers) and not including germs, I would say venomous snakes. In tropical third world countries (where anti-venom is almost non-existant) venomous snakes have been estimated to kill tens of thousands of people each year. In industrialized countries death by snake bite is rather rare because of good medical care and access to anti-venom.
This is far above and beyond the yearly totals of large mammals, fish and reptiles that kill humans.

Bees kill FAR more people than anything else. Something like 10,000 per year, nothing even comes close to that...per the nature channel.

That one goes to the Mosquito. Malaria still is a prime killer in the tropics.
