She better not bit*h and moan when that baby gets sick on her all the time.
I'm a smoker and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I quit........cold turkey. I've never been a heavy smoker but I think 1-2 smokes a day is plenty. I crave a cigarette sometimes. But this little life inside me is more important than me. Plus the smell when other people are smoking makes me sick to my stomach.
You either quit or you don't, no such thing as "trying" while you're pregnant. But that's just my opinion and that's her life and so you can only hope for the best for that little baby.

Another question... what do you think about her baby's father who smokes in front of her!
I feel that is so horrible that people will smoke in front of pregnant people! That should be against the law! Everyone thinks so badly of a pregnant woman who smokes but nothing of the people around her smoking! And actually they feel that the pregnant woman is stupid for being aroudn the smokers! Smoking is not healthy and shouldn't be acceptable to do in front of non-smokers. Why should us non-smokers have to go out of our way so that smokers can smoke wherever they want and spoil the air!

i think people should be very critical about pregnant women smoking. i was a smoker before i got pregnant and had a few cigarettes here and there the first few months of pregnancy(it was really hard to quit cold turkey) if it wasnt for feeling guilty about harming the baby AND being so worried about what people would think if they saw a pregnant woman smoking it might have been harder to quit. those rude comments from people about me smoking upset me at the time but they really helped me quit.

I think Selfish....It's just as bad as child abuse. When I became pregnant, I stopped drinking right away, never even had the occasional sip of wine that so many say is ok, never drank ANY caffiene, stayed away from anything with aspartame...pretty much everything they have ever said is bad for your baby, shelfish, soft cheeses, rare meat....you name it i never touched it..I even gave away my little kitten that i rescued, b/c you cant change litter boxes while pregnant .I knew that whatever i put in my body, i was directly giving it to my son....imagine how horrible you would feel if something happened to that little baby because you were too selfish and self centered to care. Anyone that smokes while pregnant is a selfish, horrible person...

I think it is very bad to smoke while pregnant. It can lead to many health issues and defects in the baby. I know it's hard to quit, I used to be a smoker until I got pregnant. I quit instantly and cold turkey without any problems. You are not quiting for yourself but for your baby.

Well I did until I was 4 months pregnant. I quit then and have been smoke freee since early May. I am due to give birth October 7th and my baby is already 7 1/2 pounds! My OB says she is healthy and will be between 8 - 8 1/2 pounds when she's born. I guess I quit early enough because I am 38 weeks now (No "preterm" labor here) and no low birthweight (She'll be huge!) So, as long as one can quit as early as possible I don't think the cigarette smoking will affect the baby. I would like to add that I am so happy I quit and have no intention of smoking again. It was SO hard to quit..even though I knew I had a baby in me. The addiction is extremely powerful. Don't judge people who are having a hard time quitting. It's very difficult but it can be done!

In my opinion, I think it's selfish of her. I feel that every mother or mother-to-be has the responsibility to ensure her baby's health. Smoking goes against everything healthy and can lead to pregnancy complications and an unhealthy baby. I don't think it's too much to ask for a pregnant woman to stop smoking for 9 months.

It's not good to smoke while pregnant, but if you do smoke it's not good to just stop because that will stress her out which can stress the baby out too. If you know someone who smokes just tell them to slow start to cut back until they feel comfortable quitting.

I don't think it's good, but neither are alot of things..like processed foods with additives, driving on the freeway with all the exhaust fumes, walking thru town near any factories that emit smoke, touching door handles anywhere, etc....WE live in a world where we should drink bottled water because of all the crap they put in our tap water to make it "safe". Even bottled water isn't guarenteed. Everytime we go outdoors, we breathe in pesticides, smog, etc...I'm not condoning smoking, but I wouldn't sew a scarlet letter on her either.

women that smoke when pregnant have no regard for their child. i quit smoking immediately when i found out i was pregnant. there are good reasons that drs don't want smoke around children in utero or otherwise. parents that can't kick the habit for the wellbeing of their child(ren) are selfish.
