I'm currently doing a report and wanted to have a 3d plot of one of the things in my report, but it consists of two seperate defined layers where one is at a higher depth than the other. I was wondering if i could make something like this in excel useing their surface plot tool. (i want to be able to compair the dip of the lower surface with respect to the upper surface)

I can suggest several possibilities. Go to the Chart Wizard in Excel and check out these under Chart Type:

Area/Stacked Area--a 3D plot of area (with one layer on top of the other). The Z direction for this one is a fixed depth for each series, but it can show layers and their relationships in the X,Y directions.

Surface/3D Surface--not clear you can do two surfaces on a graph, but give it a try. This is the only true 3D graphing capability where even the Z direction represents a series of data.

not something in math is so black and white (quite!) in case you ought to comprehend the section to create those 2 shapes, then the section is the sum of the two guy or woman areas. in case you're speaking with reference to the exterior section that's seen, case in point you prefer to comprehend what floor section you ought to color, then do not comprise the surfaces that connect. comprise the element of the rectangle tha varieties the cylinder + element of the triangle that varieties the cone (merely take it that way). (Use the fringe of the circles for those calculations.) + element of one of the circles.
