Morality is a quality related to virtue. Ethics is related to postulated norms and the behavior related to those norms. Legality is simply that which is lawful, that is, what is permited by custom or legislation. Laws do not have to be by their nature moral, but the study of the implications of a law for a given situation or culture is illumined by the study of ethics. One would hope that laws would be moral, but in our current cultural situation, the idea of a transcendental virtue to which the law must conform is viewed as an imposition on the freedom of the individual.

Of course not, for Aristotle a law meant a way of teaching citizens to be moral. Nowadays these view is not very much supported. Laws are just ways to get society going and some are moral, some are amoral and some are immoral. Morality, on the other hand, has been highly criticized: there is not a sure morality and all depends on the point of views of that precise moment in that precise culture. Of course, I can't agree with that. As the philosopher John Searle would put it: there is always a gap when you can decide if something is moral or not, if something should be done or not and this does not depend on the whim of the moment.
We are free to choose and freedom entails responsibility. Socrates is a good example of a life spent for morality, for what is right.

Absolutely not. Just because something is legal DOES NOT make it morally right. But then again I guess it would be your own opinion on what is moral and what it not. Just because drinking is legal at age 21 doesn't mean it's right. It's a personal opinion though...if you want to kill your body through smoking and drinking and selling your body for money and all that stuff then that's up to you and what you think is morally right but me...NO WAY do I think it's anywhere close to being morally right!

no everything which legal, you wont want to do all that. for example its legal to donate your entire fortune to some destitute, its even moral but you wont want to do it. now prostitution may not be great, but you cannot outright say its immoral, what if someone has no money, and has no education ,what will such person do? besides, prostitution hurts no one, so its moral. but i wont want my daughter to get into it, because i think she can do much better than that. but if she is in such a desperate situation it will be entirely her decision. and that will be moral.

I think you are answering your own questions.
And what I want or don't want by children to grow up and be is beside the point. I don't want them to grow up to be oil field fire fighters, I don't what them to be a right wing conservative nut case nor a left wing socialist nut case either...all of which are legal.

"If it's legal, is it ethical (or moral)?"
If you're a politician: yes.
If you're anyone else: LOL!
When will people begin to realize that the law is, at best, coincidental to morality? If we stopped expecting our elected parasites to be holy crusaders, maybe they'd stop acting like "we know what's best for you" holier-than-thou's.

I don't think porn stars (who only have to be 18), and prostitutes tell their parents what they actually do. Do you know what your children really do? These poor kids have parents who don't care enough to find out.

The govt is responsible for law, the individual is responsible for his or her individual morals/ethics outside the law. Otherwise you end up with a totalitarian state.
