So why is everyone so much more worried about the under 4,000 soldiers who died in the Iraq war in over 5 years? Don't we have a our priorities a little backwards?

I agree. There's no menton of the 7,500 who died on active duty in the last administration. Or the 9,555 who died between 1980 and 1984 when no one was shooting at us. The same people who are moaning over the loss of life in the Iraqi Theater of Operations neglect to mention that nearly one out of every five of those deaths is from non-combat causes. The moaners and weepers, in many cases, are also the very people who wouldn't have given the time of day to an active member of the armed forces on September 10, 2001.

Why don't you care about the 4000? Most of us worry about both the 17,000 and the 4,000 and try to prevent both. People have been fighting drunk driving for years, it is a difficult problem, not easily solved.

Ending the occupation of Iraq is a simple matter. All it takes is more patriots in Congress and a competent president, both of which are likely to occur the beginning of 2009.

There is also the small matter of a few hundred thousand dead Iraqis, but I guess Republicans don't care about them either.

All death is worrisome. It's a generalization to say that Americans are more worried about one than the other. If you put those statistics in front of a group and asked them to choose, then you'd have a better basis for comparison.
