not pregnant or married quite yet but loooooove thinking about baby names. i dunno it's weird but i've been planning my non-existant babies' names for years!
anyway i have what i think of as the most beautiful and perfect name for a baby boy. problem is it's very strange and i'm wondering you guys think i'll EVER be able to convince a man to name his son this. my current bf (who i'm living with and see myself marrying as of right now) is really into traditional names for boys, like connor and matthew and gross stuff like that. translation: should i start giving up on it now?
Innes.
What do you think?

oh and to everyone else thanks for the honesty, even though you totally hate it. pretty much everyone in my family has looked at me like i'm crazy when i mention that name, so i'm not surprised to see that probably most of the general public will, too. oh well. i dunno i have a while till i have to really worry about it!

Well forget everyone else. All thats important is that you like the name.
You know what? I like it too. That was the name of the brother of the main character in one of my favorite books ever (did that come out confusing?) Anyway, i don't think that there's anything wrong with the name Innes.
OK, as for the comment about no onebeing able to pronounce it... HELLO!!!! Have you read some of the names people post on here?!?!? Innes is not that unusual in the first place, but compared to some of the other names on here, it's tame!!!
If you like it, when you get pregnant, bring it up with your husband (or boyfriend). Try to compromise. Let him pick the middle name if you get to pick the first name. Or, make Innes the middle name and then call him by his middle name. Thats what my parents did with my brother, his name is Sean Tyler but he's always gone by Ty.
I hope it all works out for the best (in the far future lol!)

Scott is the father on your babies and could consistently be a individual you adore. in case you change Scott away, it is going to consistently be unfinished company and you will in no way totally relax till you end that company. I understand the previous concerns. the actuality nevertheless keeps to be you created a family with Scott and your "might desire to belong" will consistently be in that spot with the family you created. maximum of all, a bi-sexual courting as you be attentive to, will consistently be confusing throughout on the present time. some understand and a few do no longer. The Bible won't in any respect agree. So do you pass with the father on your babies and a guy or with a gal which will consistently make you ask your self approximately Scott and not fulfill you. pass on your babies daddy, paintings it out and be the place you belong. your place and your loved ones is your Palace!

It's ok. I thought you were going to say something like Ebenezer! I have to say I don't think the names Connor or Matthew are gross. Maybe a little common but not gross.

I'm not crazy either - I've loved looking at names since I was in high school - and still look at baby name books all the time - in search for that special name - or advice for a friend who asks.
I think you can maybe find a compromise with him. Sorry, I don't think Innes is all that great - not all that bad either - but not my cup of tea. Maybe something like Ian or Finn, Tiernan maybe? Dunno, but I don't think you'll convince him on that one.

Save it for a middle name.
There's nothing wrong with loving an unusual name, and on a planet full of Matthews and Madisons, it *is* refreshing to hear something different.
But there's a line between unusual and bizarre, and this one is rather bizarre to my ear.

Innes - is it pronounces EYEns? I like it. I sounds vintage. You can't force him though - trust me. We've fought over many a name in this house. You will have to work toward one you both like.

I think it's awful and you won't convince him. When it comes to names you have to compromise and choose something you both like. It takes time but you will find one.

You just have to decide what is more important to you. Naming your kid some weird name that no one will know how to pronounce, or your boyfriend. Just pick whichever one is most important. It should be easy.
