I think he is. Maybe he should be in the run for the MVP.... He has a great batting average and well....he is just really on his game.

I think he's one of the best. The best? No. If you were starting out a team from scratch and you had to pick from Posada, Victor Martinez or Joe Mauer...I think Posada would be the last choice of the 3, which isn't a put down with the ability of the other tow. Posada is having a CAREER YEAR. Look at V. Martinez-he puts up the same numbers every year. He's getting better behind the plate too-throwing out 31% of the runners trying to steal. Mauer is a hitting machine, lacks the power of Posada or Martinez, but that may come in time. His injuries are a concern, but he hits great. take Posada though, I will takeVictor Martinez on my team anyday. One firey, tough player with alot of skill and leadership presence.

In the American League - yes. He's 36, so I doubt he'll be the best for much longer, but he is right now. Because Joe Torre had an inflated opinion of Joe Girardi, Posada does have a lot fewer games caught than other top catchers in baseball history, so it will be interesting to see if he ages a little better.

Yeah i believe Jorge Posada is the best catcher this season no doubt. He's hitting for average, always had power, and is a above average rbi force. He's also equal at both sides of the plate which is rare (usually switch hitters are better on one side of the plate than the other). Oh to the 1st guy, Jorge Posada has been phenomenal behind the plate this year. So check your stats next time before you answer.

What a great year Posada is having 335-20-85 but you would also have to throw Victor Martinez 302-24-106 in the mix as well in the AL.

It is Ivan Rodriguez (Pudge Rodriguez) who has placed third in running down guys and has a average of over .300 and played catcher for 16 years (not including little league in Puerto Rico)
who's autograph cost one of the heights in the MLB who will be a hall of famer and who has a gun for a arm

No Way!!!!! Pudge Rodriguez is far better. 15 time All Star...12 Gold Gloves.....302 Lifetime Batting Avg.....288 Home Runs.....502 Doubles....3rd or 4th all-time in games played by a catcher....1999 MVP.......2003 NLCS MVP....also I believe highest all-time highest % of picking off runners....over 40% i think!!!

no... Posada passed his prime. Players like Russell Martin & Victor Martinez outshine him this season. Posada is still a great player, don't get me wrong, but he isn't the best catcher in the league.

He is one of the best catchers in baseball and has been for most of his career. Unfortunately he will be a vastly underrated player once his career comes to an end. Mainly because he has been overshadowed by his super star teammates.
