Governors are not inside Washington people like Senators are. Governors have had much more success at getting elected. Since any Senator was president, 4 governors, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and Bush have been elected president. Senators Mondale, Dole, and Kerry have all lost. Gore was also a Senator before becoming VP. Goldwater, Humphrey, and McGovern were also Senators who lost in the presidential election.

Most Senators are lawyers. Any need to elaborate?

What I find truly interesting is all the Leftists like goldenrae here saying they prefer Senators to Governors, simply because all of their candidates are Senators. They just lie these Leftists. Their last Presidential Icon was what? Governor Clinton. Carter was state Senator but learned his administrative skills as a governor. Nixon was a Senator, I suppose that's why they like Senators. Its so funny to just watch these people lie to support a politician that could give a ratz azz about them. They are so pathetic.

It depends on the state.

For instance; The governor of Wyoming or South Dakota could sleep all day and no one would notice. I don't consider that service qualification for the White House.

A governor of a state like California, Texas or New York is a different matter. Those states have GDP's larger than most foreign countries, have international borders and deal in international relations.

To put it into perspective; If France were a state in the Union, it would come in around 47th place for GDP. They didn't even beat Delaware.

I respect a person with honor and integrity whose views I am able to support. It doesn't matter if that person is a senator or a governor. Either one in my estimation could have the qualifications for the position.

My vote is for the man from Tennessee! The former Senator, Fred Thompson in '08!

Governors tend to become president more often, but I tend to think Senator's make better, and more diplomatic Presidents because of their international experience, and their regular working with people of the other party.

Neither really, both have advantages over the other.

Governors have the experience of being in an executive role of running the entire operation, while Senators have more experience in lawmaking and foreign policy decisions.
