If not, then we have not won. The defining moment for victory in my opinion, is Saddam dead (1), Iran and Syria crushed (2), and Osama dead (3), and THEY regretting their attack(4). WE ARE AMERICANS. STAND PROUD.

These terrorist will never think twice about attacking us again. They are not afraid to die in the act of terrorism against us. They feel it is their calling and the highest form of glory to be a martyr. They believe they will go to the highest level of heaven and get all these virgins. I hope the virgins are all old, fat, toothless men.
How do you defeat an enemy who welcomes death? Grant their wish. The defining moment of victory will be when the terrorists are dead, training camps are shut down, Radical Islam and hatred for other religions is no longer preached, and the threat is eliminated.

Fight terrorist with terror. We have to strike such a fear in them that they renounce their cause. Find the enemy and strike at their heart with such fury and determination that they fear us more than we fear their actions.

General Pershing did just this. He captured 4 Islam terrorist. In front of them, he shot and killed a pig, soaked their bullets in the pig's blood, and shot 3 of the terrorist with those bullets. He then wrapped their dead bodies in the pig's intestines and buried them face down. Then he set the 4th terrorist free to tell all other what they do to terrorists. He never had a problem with them again because he put such a fear in their hearts.

Excellent question.

You are joking, I hope. Our misdirected attack on Iraq has aroused the would be jihadists beyond belief, to the point where they are actively plotting to kill Americans in greater numbers than ever before. We have become their largest recruiting tool.

The idea that we can be made "safe" from a terrorist attack is ludicrous, since the nut case always has the initiative. The only way we could possible prevail is to monitor the actions of every citizen at all times, and to do that we would have to become the enemy we fear the most. This is not a war anybody can win.

To stop that kind of behaviour we need to forbid all religious training of children. Are you prepared to outlaw Sunday School? Why should Osama gone Crazy give up his Islamic delusions if George the Second won't stop brainwashing our kids?

The enemy is not thinking twice about attacking us. They are thinking constantly. May Osama and George burn in hell together.

The "enemy" will not think twice about attacking the US again.

If anything the debacle in Iraq has emboldened it further and swelled its ranks by all the outraged young muslim men who beforehand had no intention or desire in becoming radicalised.

9/11 was about US troops being in Saudi Arabia, especially the holy city of Mecca. So what happens? An invasion of another islamic country.
Iran and Syria will not be crushed without the backing of middle eastern allies (which grow fewer every day) and the extremists will never regret their attack on NY.
Should the US do something spectacularly rash against Iran or Syria do not forget there are muslims all around the world that will object.
And i'm seriously hoping you're not thinking of genocide.

THEY who is THEY? terrorists? al-qaida? Muslims?
Don't you realize terrorism was around forever and will always be a scare tactic? It's the Barbarians at the gates of Rome, in a sense. The War on Terror is like The War on Drugs. We can continue to prevent attacks and root out terrorist cells, but declaring the war on terror won and done is an open invite to a new terrorist threat. Therefore, the war on terror can never be won. Which is the intention of the ones who are involved - perpetual war.

No. They are hoping their allies, the Dems, take the White House. Then, it'll be open season again on US citizens and property. They'll attack and all the Dems will do is want to sit down to "dialog" with them to learn from them what are the root causes of terrorism, how the US is responsible, and what can the US do to make them feel better and happier. "Another round of tea and crumpets, Achmed?"

The war on terror is a generational battle. Unfortunately we will be fighting this evil for the rest of our lives. We must Stand Tall as you said and not back down. - drop the political correctness and call a spade a spade, or a terrorist a terrorist in this case.
We have to watch that they don't defeat us from within. You know, divide and conquer. Sounds eerily familiar to what's going on right now......

First of all these terrorists see themselves as defending their lands.

As long as we are invading their lands or toppling their governments as we have been doing since 1953, they will keep fighting.

The more destruction we do in their lands just adds to the fire pushing more people that were once on the fence to the enemies side.

Creating more terrorists than we kill makes us more vulnerable to attack.

The defining moment of victory will be when terrorists no longer want to attack the United States, not out of fear (because people that give their lives for a cause do not know fear) but because they have no ill will towards us.

Sweetie, what we need is good police work to keep bad guys out. Like having paid attention to the warning signs before 9-11.

Less killing less conquest ("crush" another nation? sounds like comic book rhetoric).

We as Americans can stand pround when we once again stand for our core principles.
