Hey! I planted 2 vines too.

They both had grapes in the summer and they are only 1 meter tall.

I have a 3rd vine that was already there when we bought the house 3 years ago. It was miserable and neglected, now it's great.

The vine will only fruit on new growth. So the wine growers around me prune their vines very severely. My neighbour advised, if you want the vin to grow for cover to let the various branches grow 1 meter a year, ie prune it back to 1 meter of last years growth.

Prune like for roses, just after a bud.

Prune at the end of autumn, after the leaves are off, but before it gets real cold.

In spring/summer, when the grapes are visible, but small, prune off the growth that has no grapes and prune off the vines 3 leaves after the good looking bunches. That way the plant won't waste energy on leaf growth.

Watch for mildew and blight. This summer in France was very wet and the grape harvests were hammered by mildew.

You really need professional advice. Look up some sites online that sell grapevines and email them your question. You might also look up a few wineries and direct your question to them. They will have a great deal of expertise and experience to provide you with good answers. After all, grapevines may need pruning from time to time, but if you prune excessively or at the wrong time of year, then you will ruin your chances of getting any fruit the following season.

YOU NEED TO HAVE A MALE AND A FEMALE FOR THE GRAPES TO WORK. YOU DON'T SAY WHAT SIZE THE PLANTS ARE, SO IT WOULD HARD TO SAY ON THE PRODUCING. THEY NEED TO RUN ON SOMETHING, OLD CLOTHESLINE POLE AND LINES OR AN ARBOR. CUT IT BACK AFTER IT PRODUCES IN THE FALL.
