"An employee of the network leaked information about a production meeting regarding a potential new show titled “Interracial Love.” According to the employee, network execs passed on the idea because it would feature professional black women who choose to look beyond race to find true love. The images would be in direct contrast to those shown on such coon-like shows as “Flavor of Love” and its spawns “I Love New York” and “Flavor of Love: Charm School.”

"the exec said: “It is our thoughts that the viewers are more interested in seeing black people in a ghetto role. This show will not sell.”

"A source goes on to say that : "Once they (the executives) received the treatment for the show and (saw) that this would not be a ghetto minded show they turned it down. Vh1 said this White America can only see black women as (ghetto) having educated Black women on this show will not sell."

That's ridiculous! It just shows that networks have fallen back into the dark ages. GET OVER YOUR RACISM ALREADY!

I personally would prefer to see a show about professional black women looking for a mate despite the race. Tiffany Pollard(New York) has already tarnished the image of an intelligent black woman; so please give us something to redeem ourselves with.

Wow. I did not hear this story and I am appualed. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Its sad the way black women are portrayed. New York is a terrible example. But the idea of calling a show "Interracial love" turns me off. I am birracial and I dont think interracial relaionships should be exploited. I hope Vh1 can show black women in better roles with different shows.

It depends on their target audience. I once participated in a research panel judging a commercial by General Foods. I was so insulted by the ad, I couldn't believe they had the audacity to air it. The response was, 'they weren't targeting northerners, the ad is only to be shown to southerners.'

My point is, I truly believe humans relate to like humans; we like what we see in a mirror. Personally, I can't stand shows that lack intelligence, creativity, or humor; as soon as a gun, killing, torture, or cruelty appears, I change the channel.

Apparently, they're really targeting ghetto inhabitants and if you watch the commercials during that show - it'll be clear. White folks will typically watch shows - with similar white folks; black folks will typically watch shows - with similar black folks. It's what we relate to - mirror images.

BTW, there are already plenty of shows featuring blacks of both genders in highly visible and positive roles. There's something definitely askew with those quotes.

The sad part about the whole mess is the VH1 is owned by Viacom, the same company that owns BET, MTV, CBS and a lot of other companies. I don't like how any of the networks view entertainment at any cost of helping a woman of any race degrade herself. It's time for the woman to be responsible for them selves. How much would you sell your self worth for? Five minutes of fame at what cost. I would rather keep my self respect because to me it's priceless.

I constantly boycott Pepsi because of the fact its in basic terms not very stable. weight-help plan coke is one hundred cases extra effective than weight-help plan pepsi!!!! specially circumstances boycotts paintings and if somebody needs to objective a boycott, properly then it quite is their suited. i actually doubt Pepsi has plenty to worry a pair of boycott, whether, given its international industry and the reality that folk look committed and addicted to their drink of decision. edit sea kitteh i actually ought to disagree with you. human beings on the pro gay rights area have carried out some quite despicable issues with little or no grievance against them. in case you're antagonistic to bigotry, extra often than not, then you certainly won't be in a position to be antagonistic to it only once you do not accept as true with it. you won't be in a position to declare which you arent a bigot and then applaud, or perhaps stay silent, whilst human beings are spitting on human beings or destroying peoples property or sending dying threats to human beings, in basic terms because of the fact they dont like their political stance on a controversy. How is it not bigotry to condone such habit? yet easily human beings on one area are asserting the bigotry and the despicable habit is justifiable because of the fact "they deserve it" or "I quite have the better ethical floor". properly wager what, that's what the different area is asserting too, and in case you reject those justifications whilst its on the different area, then how are you able to embody them whilst this is on your area? this is barely such an extremely good hypocrisy and persons are justifying the hypocrisy with the comparable arguments they condemn on the different area. it may well be hilarious if it werent so complicated.

wow this just shows how racist people in America are. I would love to see educated black women. Hispanic women are usually displayed in the same light. It gets tiring to look at women degrade themselves for a horrendous looking man like flavor flave.

Sounds like an urban legend to me, but I won't stop my 20+ year boycott of VH1 (or MTV) until they renounce showing regurgitated 60s (rock) or 80s (hip hop) music videos.

i dont agree with the idea that one person on tv is supposed to represent us all. If ppl aren't exposed to different types of black ppl and dont realize that whats on tv is not real and is stereotypical, then i dont really care about what those ppl think.

Yeah. It’s time for the woman to be responsible for themselves. A friend of mine from interracialmatch.com and I both believe it without doubt.
