Gished, what a narrow minded view. Why shouldn't disabled folk do exactly the same as the rest of society if they are capable.

What would we all do without you here Andy - your forever standing up for social justice (and for we less fortunate creatures) I don't think it was really about her crutches - we live in world where perfection is the name of the game - some ppl go to great lengths to look good which often projects a false image of who they really are - this night club could just be one of these places - so why go where your not wanted is how i feel about it - I'm sure the girl will find other clubs where she'll fit in. I like Cassy's answer - and gished's answer - why shouldn't a 20yr old girl enjoy night clubs? - she can still enjoy her friends and the music - i didn't give a thumbs down - i just thought it was a bit sad really.
Life's difficult enough especially living with a disability - in the newspaper article the girl says her confidence has been knocked - hopefully in time she will gain strength and courage from this experience - and i hope her friends are a good support. : )

Just a little over the top don't you think. Maybe on a safety issue, people tripping over them and breaking the leg or something but seriously.
What did they think, the disabled lady was going to lay into everyone.
As for gished. What a knob!!! Does he think disabled people don't have a life. Guess what knob. They do and they have the right to go anywhere you do.

The police came to my home to talk to me about some property I had reported stolen. I walked outside on my crutches to talk with them. They told me to leave the crutches in the house. When I told them I couldn't walk or stand without them, they told my wife to bring a chair, and take the crutches in the house!
I complained to everyone I could, but nothing was ever done.

I agree with this. If I want to go down to the local nightclub and beat someone to a pulp with my crutches, do you think it should be allowed?
This woman was blatantly not disabled. If she had been, why the hell would she have been going to a nightclub on a pair of crutches? Was she intending to do some sort of special crutch dance?
I am all for equal rights, but disabled people in nightclubs is a no go as far as I am concerned.
What next? let paedophiles run the Brownies?

Well in theory, they are and perhaps they were worried other people would use them as such, however, it is complete discrimination and I doubt very much the issue will rest here.

I live in Devon by the way so I apologize.

The real reason was probably liability for slip and fall.I would be real careful admitting someone on crutches, it is a double sided sword. The person could sue for discrimination.

more than likely this just makes for Sensationalism HEADLINES ...... maybe the woman was not allowed into the nightclub cause she was jacked-up on drugs or for some reason the head bouncer didn't think she should come in for some logical reasoning yet the woman used the press to make a complaint.
JUST cause it's written in the news article, doesn't make it true.
I've gotta be convinced about any subject, not base my ideas on frivolous unproven articles.

I think they just opened the door to a nice lawsuit against them and an ADA complaint!

If I were she, I'd have been tempted to demonstrate their useage as potential weapons. Right there and then.

A bouncer with brains of a plankton.

I tell you is quite boring when you have to walk with them.Having said this he he I really believe she was there not to drink or have a bit of fun but to start a fight she was practising all week to fight on that single night.
