We were all ready to buy a Whirlpool Cabrio, and then we read some reviews online saying that they are horrible and Whirlpools service is even worse. So now the wife and are confused on what to get.
She's heard that front loaders leak and get mold on the gasket, and that most top loaders don't clean well or recquire maintenance. Now we do own a Kenmore washer and dryer now, but they came with the house we bought, and we're not sure old they are, but they don't seem to be cleaning or drying cloths very well.
I told her to pick any make and madel she wants, but she's confused on what to spend the money on!!
Help her and me out and recommend a good set!
Thanks
Sean

i sell appliances for a living , as well as electronics. a top loading washing machine i would reccomend is speed queen. they are comercial quality and made to last 25 years. rather than 8- years most manufacturers average. they are usually only at independent dealers (not lowes or home depot) they cost only a little more but the quality is much much better. they are also an american company and are made in the usa, unlike most made in mexico or china. they also have the longest warranty of 3-years parts and labor 5-years on the motor and cabinet, and 10-year on the transmissionand lifetime on the stainless steel tub and outer tub, rather than the 1-year only on almost all other brands. so if you want some thing to last along time and be very reliable id pick speed queen. if not . id say whirlpool. top loader. whirlpool owns maytag, roper, estate, to name a few so any of these new models are ultimatly a whirlpool. ge is also good. id stay away from the top loaders with no agitator. like the whirlpool cabrios(maytag bravos) and the ge harmony. some work well but for that price id pick a front loader. whirlpool front loaders are good. but i think bosch is better and more quality. i would not get an lg ever. they are a korean company and that means cheap parts and cheap labor. i do not support that. so id pick speed queen , if not then the whirlpool. yes maytag used to be very good quality 10+ years ago. then they went bankrupt and whrlpool bought them 2-years ago. so any new maytag is a whirlpool. wel good luck hoped i helped.

I bought one of those expensive, newfangled, energy efficient (water stingy) Whirlpool sets. It was a nightmare. Moldy smelling , lint covered streaked up, wrinkled up clothes that you couldn't hang dry because it took the dryer to get all the lint off. Luckily, Lowes took them back. I did some research before I picked new ones. I got a G.E. Profile top load washer and dryer set.It was hundreds of dollars cheaper and it has almost as much load capacity as the other ones but it has an agitator and uses plenty of water. It has enough capacity to wash a king size comforter, even with an agitator. What I learned is, that it takes WATER to get your clothes clean! What you save on water on the others, you spend on higher priced high efficiency detergents anyway. I also learned that I like agitators. If you are considering getting a front loader or any of those water miser types, I suggest you put " moldy smell in front load washers" into your search engine. I love my washer and dryer. I'm eternally grateful to Lowes for bailing me out of this one. I can't imagine having to keep that set. I think I would have sold it in a yard sale. If it ever gets to where those HE sets are all you can buy, I'll have mine repaired till the day I die. Pick wisely. It's a pretty long term decision.

OMG! Do NOT buy the Cabrio! I had the front loading washer and it only poured soapy water on my clothes and then wadded them up into knots, ruining several items. It doesn't fill up with water at all just sprayes your clothes. So, i took it back the very same day and got the top loading Cabrio, it does not fill up with water either but it does have a button you have to push every time you start a load, to put SOME water in the tub. I do not feel like my clothes are clean at all, and i am stuck with a verrrrry price washer/dryer set. It looks nice and very Jetson-like but it does a terrible job. Not recommended at all.

Sean if you have a good working set of Kenmore washer and dryers I would try and hang onto them for as long as possible. They will probably outlast anything on the market now. If you have an older model belt driven Kenmore it will last till you get ready to chunk it. These are the very best washers out there. If I had my choice of any washing machine or dryer out there I would want what you own right now. No electronic motherboards to blow out and cost a fortune to fix. no leaky gunk and moldy door seals , no special laundry detergents or fancy electric reversing DC motors that run on converter box's Some people don't really know what they have till they lose it. My mothers 1968 Kenmore wrinkle guard works better and drys clothes faster than my new dryer. That's why when she chunked it in lew of a newer model, I fixed it and retired my dryer. Today's newer washers and dryers just don't make the grade. go to fixitnow.com and find out more.

We bought a new washer and dryer about a year or so ago and love them.....top loading Whirlpool Ultimate Care II. The clothes get exceptionally clean. I don't even have to use bleach!
We have hard water, we use liquid Era. If you try it, be sure to read the directions on the container.

I'm a Maytag woman.
But another word of advice....just as with cars, don't buy the first model made by the manufacturer. Those items are prone to be problems.
I currently have a Whirpool (its a townhouse that's three years old.) I hate the set I have, but since I haven't had any major breakdowns my husband won't let me buy a new Maytag set. Never again. I'll be glad when we either move or get new machines.

learn the loo Lewis variety, because of the fact they don't sell rubbish, their own style ones actually have a three year assure, the different makes have a 2 year one. i recently offered the JL style one for £322 and am happy with it, whether it only has a 6kg drum, the subsequent one up at £399 has the 7kg drum. They use the Zanussi and AEG aspects and production yet adjust the designs somewhat. there is likewise a pragmatic website called washing device help which tells you the extra good manufacturers.

buy a top loader, maytag,
ahve one thats 20 yrs old still chugging away, get one that doesn,t have the electronic junk on it, a manual will out last all of them, type that you have to turn the dial for settings, the experiance i,v had with other ones is a night mare.
