Lyrics: She misses her friend who was just so close to her that it never occurred to her that her friend would disappear one day. The chorus explains that part, and how she'd punch anyone out if they said her friend was "gone". From that line, you get the idea that her friend could have been "gone", from the reference of drugs. Because Pink did say that this song was based on a friend who died from OD...but for now, Pink can only see her friend through her dreams.
Video: A couple is at a carnival, and you can see the girl trying to have fun with the guy, but he's always looking off. Other clips show that he's been shooting heroin. The girl realizes this, and as she finds him seriously screwed, she called the ambulance because she cared so much about him. From a TRL interview, Pink had stated that it's at a carnival because everyone's so happy there.

I heard that it was written for her friend, who passed away from cancer I think it was. I love the song, but wasn't sure exactly who she had in mind when she wrote the lyrics (I presume she writes them). So I asked someone who claimed to be a big Pink fan, and she told me that it was about a friend who died.

It's her version of a war protest song. She falls in love with and marries a guy who enters the service, they are young and don't "count their blessings now". People warn them about the danger, etc. They are young don't listen and her love goes off to war and doesn't come home. She sang it on American Idol.

i love that song too! I think that it means something about either an ex boyfriend or a best friend.
