There was talk that if Quebec had voted to secede, then the rest of the country should join the US. Didn't happen, though.
My take on it is that it would be beneficial for both nations, despite anything that's going on with the currencies.
And you do know that the reason that the US dollar finally dropped to the level of the Canadian dollar has a lot to do with the big US trade deficits, right?

I've been to Canada twice: beautiful country, and French is such a cool-sounding language. I don't know about merging, but I'd like to go back.

No. The two nations have different histories and cultures, similar but different, and I doubt very much that Canada would buy into this plan at all.

i agree!!! my hubby is a cab driver, and even here in Va. we get canadian coins, and I am tired of them not being equel to the American coin, and now that they are, i am a happy camper!!!

I dunno if they'd want to carry the US...1,000,000 USD = 1,001,349 Canadian....
thats statistically significant...plus then they'd have to help finance our trillion dollar war and 9 trillion and climbing national debt
