Ewww, I hate that! Have they never heard of SortKwik that you can dip a finger in for moisture, they don't cost much?!?! We had a lady that worker here that would hold papers in her mouth leaving a big lipstick stain. At least I could see where not to touch...but still, ewww! Some ppl are just so inconsiderate.

If that isn't disgusting enough...shaking hands is the worst habit you can get into, but if I do, it's immediately to the hand sanitizer (which sits in my car/purse/desk) or nearest sink for me.
Call me phobic but with all the nasty things going around in this world you can't keep hands clean enough.
So yeah that is gross, but really when you think of the dozens of surfaces you touch each day, they can all be as equally digusting.
Frankly, I would NEVER even lick my fingers...because of that very reason you DONT know what's on there!!
Best thing you can do is keep a bottle of hand sanitizer at your desk and disinfect often.

totally gross, but I do it if it's a new book...
if it's like a magazine at the doctor's office, or a book I know other people have read, or will read, it's just rude... plus you're licking other people's saliva off your fingers when you do it. Yucky!
