while i can agree they are past there time, they certainly have made a big impact on music.. they have been around since the 60's. A lot of the older bands are still around and rocking... Aerosmith for example.. the older bands still have a huge following... It just goes to show that age is nothing but a number and if one can do what they do all their life..go for it.. Look at Tina Turner and Cher.. i am sure a lot of the bands today won't be around in their 50's and 60's. And if they made that much money last year, it proves they still rock and have ppl like them.

People will pay mega money to see their favourite performer.. regardless of the price... and the Stones actually had a few chart hits in the 1990's two in 94 one in 91 and one in 98. So if they can chart still.. they have it still. Also take into consideration.. tickets have more than doubled in price since th 80's i was a child in the 80's i got to go to concerts for 25 dollars.

The Stones are and were a great Rock & Roll band. They are getting rich and old. Primarily getting rich because they charge too much for their shows. However people love them, they put on a good show and people still want to pay big bucks to see them. I saw them in 1975 for $12.00. Well worth it.
Being rich doesn't make you a good rock band, but in this case the Stones are the exception.

just because you make money, doesn't make you good. the stones are an exception. but when you tour year round charging 200 bucks a ticket in stadiums so massive you can hardly even see or hear them on stage, you are gonna make money. the stones haven't put on a great record since the early 80's and they make their money on the nostalgia circuit. three are plenty of bands that are pulling in millions a year that are pure crap though. making money doesn't make you good. point and case, kenny chesney.

I didn't know you could measure musical quality by how rich the people making it are. Their early records must have been rubbish then.
