I had one yesterday when I used th staff car.
it has one of those stupid double key systems (one key for the door, another for the ignition.)
I consistantly tried to start the car with the door key. I had to slap myself in the head to stop it

I've had this happen a couple of times. Once, many years back I was with someone else and they parked in front of the door of a major pharmacy. It was near dusk and I came out with a hand full of items. I went over to the car and struggled to open the passenger door without dropping my stuff. I leaned in, sat down and turned back quickly to grab the seatbelt , all the while saying, "well I got everything but the vaporizer". He smiled at me and then I quickly realized I was in the wrong car! The driver was amused though, and said"O.k. honey, we'll go somewhere else and get it!". I laughed so hard and jumped out quickly only to see that my car and the person I was with, was now parked somewhere else and watching me the whole time I was making a fool of myself! I never got a good reason WHY the car had been moved, or why they sat there watching me get into the car of a completer stranger.

Yes--there are lots of cars out there same make, year and color. It was only after my key wouldn't work that I started to get frustrated and noticed things inside the car that weren't mine. I looked around and no one seemed to be paying attention, so I walked away and found mine, but I looked at license to be sure. Kind of unnerving!!!

I went to have my car fixed, a new ignition switch. When I picked it up I got so mad because it wouldn't start. I went storming back in .....and was informed (of course) that a new key goes with the new ignition switch. I new this! But, I had a Dork moment and used the old key. I apologized and played it off as a blond moment.

I was waiting for you and I guess I fell asleep. I should have left the door unlocked. That could not be as embarassing as falling asleep waiting for you and when I woke up there were no cars in the parking lot.

My best friend stopped by a small market to pick up some eggs and juice before he went home. When he came out he got in a car that looked like his. When he tried to start the car he realized that the car was not his. He quickly got out and got in his car nearby and drove home. When he got home he realized that he had left the eggs and juice in the other car. What do you think the owner of the car thought when she got in her car and found eggs and juice on her passenger seat? That she was being stalked by some grocery store ritualist?

yes, I did that. I was in a walmart parking lot. I was trying to unlock my truck. At least that's what I thought. it was the same color, make & model but was not my truck at all. I realized this when the owner came up behind me and asked me what I was doing. I said I locked myself out of my truck. she said, "no you didn't because thats is my truck". I looked at her then looked back at the truck. it looked like my truck. then looked at her again. then I realized. the inside of the truck was way to clean to be mine. I saw it but it did not register until then. I was so embarrassed. my truck was one row over. as I left the parking lot she pulled up on the side of me. we looked at each other. that was uncomfortable. but I'm glad she saw I really did have the same truck. It really was just a mistake.
well, at least the owner of the car didn't walk up on you like me. I could have just died from the embarrasment!! not to mention how stupid I felt.

No, but I have taken my wife's car to the store, then wandered the parking lot looking for my truck, convinced it was stolen.
As luck would have it, I eventually wandered past the car. That was the point at which I discovered my dork-ness.

NOPE but I was woken up on a couch by the owners of the house. I was very drunk and went down the wrong street. They didnt lock their door and I thought it was my house so I went in and crashed on the couch. The people actually were ok with it. They cooked me breakfast and said not to make that mistake again. They also directed me to AA.
