It's a paradox in marriage itself, -marriage by definition is a bond for the rest of their mutual life.
Maybe land ownership must be 'relinquished' after 7 yrs?
Maybe diplomas will "expire"?
What else??

I realise I will get stoned for what I am going to say, but who cares. God is real,, His Son Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins when he died on the cross. Thank God the Holy Spirit is with us here today on earth.
We who are believing Christians are soon going to face a lot of persecution, however, we have to stand up for what God says. Not what the world thinks.
We have a Bible where we have prophets, who wrote of the end times regarding Government, morals, marriage, violence, and all the terrible things we see around us. They also told us that there would be an Anti Christ, who would rule the world for 7 years. Linked to a One World Government.
These men, all lived in different places, at different times in history Prophets. poets and writers. Some were military men, some were Generals in the Army, some were Kings, some were poets, writers, and Prophets. They did not know each other, but they all told us the same details, of what to expect. That is not coincidence. We know what hour we are living in.
Seeing this report should come as no surprise to us, but it still has an impact on us. Because it has such disastrous implications of what would happen should this law be adopted by other countries and Germany.
Many people today are divorced, and even Jesus said that adultry is a cause for a divorce. But a Nation is made up of families, and the family is the first thing Satan would like to destroy. It's enough that so many people are left with children, without a father.
A father is the spiritual head of the home. The home is then fragmented. Society suffers a breakdown in morals, discipline and accountability. Women are already battling for money to raise children on their own. We cannot blame them or judge them. Because we don'tknow the circumstances,
Now here is someone who is saying, just make marraige null and void after seven years, Who cares! This will cause more broken families, and children will suffer the most. Then comes the ripple effect on the entire nation. An increase in violence, a further decline in morals, and no accountability.
I only pray, that those people out there who do not see that we are now living in the end times, those who mock God and His Son and the Holy Spirit are so close to coming face to face with Him. I don't mean RELIGION. I mean a BELIEF and a relationship. Because without that, we are going to suffer such terrible things.
Jesus told us," more terrible things than any other generation has seen".
We know that the last battle will be in the Middle East, and that God's people the Jews, will be at the centre of it. They will be the targets. The Arabs are already trying to get possession of The Temple Mount.
The Bible states clearly the EXACT TIME TO THE YEAR, that Israel would become a Nation. This happened with The Balfour Accord.
I can only say this: BE CAREFUL who you vote for in your local councils, your State, and your President. And I personally would now start home schooling your children, Because the last place you would want them to be, is in a school run by the Government.
Here are some net sites you may want to look at.

I think it under minds the sanctity of marriage. How will the vows read . . . "til 7 years do you part"? Sounds like signing a long term lease on a car. Is there a rebate when you hit 7, 14, 21, etc. years. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Why have a clause to dissolve the marriage at 7 years. I guess it's probably obvious, I think it's ridiculous.

Well, think about it...if we renewed our vows every 7 years, that isn't such a bad deal, considering that most marriages don't make it two years. I am a firm believer in the open door policy....treat you mate today in a manner that they will want to stay one more day! A lot of problems would be solved if more people stopped relying on a piece of paper to hold a marriage together rather than kind and loving actions. All to often, I think that as soon as papers are signed, a sense of ownership seems to pervade a marriage, and we all know that no one can own anyone. Peace, Goldwing

Why not just dissolve the whole institution of marriage? Supposedly, marriage is supposed to be about more than legal obligations.
What problem is this solution meant to solve?

Excellent idea, then the couple will always work at their marriage (unless of course they look forward to it's expiring) and if they really care about one another, they can recommit after seven years and never take one another forgranted.

i agree with Sid on this one except for the fact that it is not always in the best interest of the children for the parents to stay in a loveless situation. sometimes there is too much fighting etc which is bad for kids because then they think that that is the way that it is supposed to be
