I feel marriage should be exclusive only to love. Can we mess it up worse than it already is? Honestly they need our commitment just to get the failure rate below 50%. It is a right protected by the Constitution and if the United States was truly about it's people they would realize that NOW!

Plain and simple it should be legal - why is the love I have for Joe any different that the love that a woman has for her husband? How can someone else tell me who to love and who to not love? Isn't love a human right? I fully understand that some people don't agree with it I suggest those people NOT marry a same sex person and live their lives in peace but just because they don't agree with it wny prevent me from my happiness?
I don't go bear hunting but I don't think it need to be made illegal - I just won't participate.
I have been with my husband since 1989 - that already is a marriage - and so far the world has not stopped spinning because we are in love.

I've always been in favor of it, this civil union stuff is kind of hokey. Like the mayor of San Diego said, in fact, two years ago when he go elected he was against it, but now he says, and heres his quote, """He fought back tears as he said he wanted his adult daughter, Lisa, and other gay people he knows to have their relationships protected equally under state laws.
"In the end, I could not look any of them in the face and tell them that their relationships — their very lives — were any less meaningful than the marriage that I share with my wife Rana," Sanders said.""""
It's an emotional issue for many people because they finally come to the realization that they are in fact set up to be special and they're really no different than we are.

I know a man who lost his home because he couldn't afford the inheritance tax on it when his partner died. They bought the house together, but he owed the tax because he inherited his partner's interest, and the law did not consider them "family".
In another case, a man lay dying in the hospital and his partner was not allowed to see him, but the family members that shunned him for years would have been allowed in.
Marriage would have made it possible for these people to have the same rights as straight people do.

I dont understand the opposition. Freedom is freedom. Its a gov't institution for tax status, why cant everyone have it?
If a church doenst agree with it, no one will force them to wed people or even recognize the marriage. Many churches already refuse to acknowledge remarriages after a divorce, the gov't still does; it would be no different.

I feel very strongely about the fact that gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry. Who are we to tell someone who to love and marry? If you can marry your damn cousin then you should be able to marry someone of the same sex!

I so go for it! It's not like straight marriages are always healthy (what with the 50% divorce rate and all!), so why not let other people take the chance as well?

I support marriage btween people that love each other. The gender makeup of the couple makes no difference to me.

I am all for people being able to do as their hearts desire instead of zealotous religious bidding. We are in fact lucky it is CHRISTIAN oppression instead of Muslim oppression telling us we have to blow ourselves up and kill people. But being told we cant marry,it is the SAME TYPE of zealotous oppression. What about those of us who see their religion as silly and frivilous? We are SUPPOSED to have freedom of religion in our Constitution, but that is only your PERSONAL freedom. It is not included in the law making process as this is a Christian oppressed country. If you dont believe it,try getting married as a gay couple and watch the sparks fly from the zealots!!!

It's a moral issue and should not be legislated, in other words you should make your decision who to marry or not and the law should not prohibit your choice. This is also true for the various forms of polygamy.
