Well, as yall probabaly know there is Jerry (only a tropical depression basically) but still, What is it like to go through a tropical depression - Cat 1. I have never been through a hurricane/TD-TS because I used to live in Kentucky. We live in Bay St Louis, MS and have been for about a year. Anyways, we live right in front of a canal so we are going to a friends house in Diamondhead for Jerry. Also what are other peoples plans for not just evacuating this one but also other future storms (if their are any)

It has not reached enough strength to be named yet, and still may not. I'm in Biloxi, born and raised for the most part, and I can assure you a depression or weak tropical storm is nothing like a hurricane. The only bad thing this time is that it looks like it will coincide with astronomical high tides, but we are still only talking a few feet above normal, and that depends on where you are. It's going to be no big deal at my house, but most of Bay St. Louis is a good deal lower than where I live. If you live close to the beach or inlets of any kind, you might be looking at minor flooding. Other than that, it's just going to be a really stormy weekend.

****Yes, I would find a friend with to stay with in that case. If you ever have time to go look, there is a marker somewhere at I-10 showing how unbelievably high the water was there during Katrina. This will be nothing like that, but it's good to know anyway. I've never evacuated myself, not even for Katrina, but I've also never flooded. In the Bay St. Louis and Waveland areas, it's a lot lower there than most of the rest of the coast, so always pay attention to the weather- even when it's just flash floods from regular storms.

We had "Allison" come through here a few years......... It was a tropical storm. Just had some good breezes and some rain. The power did'nt even go out.

I always go to relatives outside of Meridian. That was not the best thing for Katrina, as the eye went over us there too!

Myself, I'm used to the scares. I'll stay put unless it's a pretty forgone conclusion that we're going to get hit bad. I live in Houston and during Rita I did pack up and go to San Antonio until it was over. A lot of us here did that after Katrina.
