. . . the importance of the jena 6 situation? Most white people ive talked to seem to get real offensive and angry at the fact they african americans are takin this mater so serious. They seem to not understand or act as blacks or taking the situation to far as if prejudice realy doesnt exist. CAn some one please tell me whats the deal?

The noose from a tree was wrong, but a 6 to 1 fight is unfair. Color doesn't matter here.

To be honest, I dont know what the "jena 6" situation is. I've never heard of it. From the sounds of it though, it appears that some african american person may or may not of done something, and is in the process of getting jail time as a result? And the fellow africans believe this is unfair?
I will admit that racism is still a problem we are currently facing here in the USA, but not nearly as bad as it has been in the past. It seems to me that whenever a colored person is convicted of a wrong doing, it's automatically a "racism" issue. This is rediculous. Im not saying that it NEVER is, but it isn't always the case. There comes a time when the african americans need to take responsibility for their negative actions. As bad is it is to convict a black man (or woman) under racist pretenses, it is just as bad to accuse white people of acting out racial views.
Just some food for thought...

As a "white" person I have to say that I understand why the Jena 6 families are angry but I can also understand why others are not. These kids did a terrible thing, caused emotional and physical pain, although I cannot say it warranted attempted murder because I do not know the facts of the case. What is obsurd is that the victim, the man beaten UNCONCIOUS has been totally forgotten. 6 males beating one male as a team is disgusting, sad, and says something about the character of those boys, REGARDLESS of their skin color. Are they being targeted and punished because of the situation 6 blacks beating one white, I don't know, I certainly hope not but racism is alive and well in our society so it's a possibility.

You should really research your questions before you ask them. Sometimes, one might sound like an IDIOT when they speak. I am white and what was done was wrong all the way around/ on both sides of the spectrum. That 6 black youths did something terribly wrong? Now its a racial situation? What happened, huh? Why does it always have to be the black man? YADA YADA YADA. Get over it, it is a crime they commited it whether they be black, white, chinese etc.
Racism is brought on by ignorance and ingnorance comes in all colors, shapes and sizes.

Prejudice and racism exist. That is no justification for these 6 young men to beat a child. However, if this child did do a racist prank, that will certainly help mitigate, not exonerate, these young men.

the beating aside, what as a white person worries me the most is that there are white people out there that seem to thing\k that they can hang noose from a bloody tree and its OK...............like I said in a previous post to another question the black kids would have have had to hit my kid for him doing that I would have whopped his butt for it, probably more harder than they did.
This began with some white kids wanting a TREE to be theirs, the school failed big time but NOT taking it as seriously as they should have done........
regards and whilst may not understand the ins & outs of the whole thing I can assure you that a blanket statement of 'white people this and white people taht" gets up any person nose if said enough...........many more people think what is BEGAN with was wrong enough, the rest is just follow up to the hanging of the noose surely?

I have always had all kinds of friends, black, white.... vegetarians, gays, straights, lesbians, christians, non-christians... -- They're all just people -- I hate racism, it's a waiste of time -- Black people are the most racist of all people, calling whites "crackers" and honkey's -- Listen to a Black Comedian. They might be joking around but it sounds pretty serious.
Now what about the black girl who got tortured. All those white people might be getting life. Are you going to defend them? Hmmmmmm

I'm not even mad at the obvious racism involved in the case it's the simple fact that no one no matter what race should get that punishment for the crime that was committed.
