Why do I find myself humming the same tune for the last ten years?

I learned that saying while I was in grade 3...it means it's the end of the week and no more school till Monday. p.s. I used to, and still think that students should get paid to go to school because you do a lot of work at school. Not only that, they should pay you overtime for all the homework the teachers give you to do. As an adult, I am much more delighted when it is a payday and if EVERY Friday was a payday...I would mostly agree with you...but even on Friday paydays, people are equally happy to see the end of the week so they can rest for a couple of days [as well as spend there money.]

Well Friday because it is the last working day of the week for most. And who gets paId on Fridays any more, or weelkly for that matter. Payday is usually the 20 th or 30th of the month/.

Some people only get paid every two weeks. I get paid next week, so every Friday wouldn't be "Thank God It's Payday" for me. I'm just happy that I don't have to work tomorrow!!

Because it's the end of the workweek. Not everyone gets paid weekly. It's normally bi-weekly. Should be more like, "Thank God that waste of 5 days I call a job is over for the next two days but then I have to go back and suffer for another 5 days after that before seeing the light of day for another two days". Too long? I think I need a new job...
Happy Friday to all. Have a safe and relaxing weekend!

Most people look forward to being off week ends. As i worked as a nurse, Fridays meant nothing! I worked 3 week-ends out of four so it made no difference anyway.
We didn't get paid weekly either but monthly so it was always a case of 'Thank God it's pay day' LOL

It's not payday every Friday. In some countries, they say TGIW - Wednesday, because that's like our Friday.

Do you work? Because if you had the job that I had and worked 50hours a week, 10 hours a day, walking through hills in the searing heat, you would kiss your boss and thank God it's Friday too!

I think he meant, instead of thanking "God" that it is friday, we should thank god when its payday! i am pretty sure that is what he meant lol
And i think it should be "thank god i get paid for working all week and now i get to relax" lol
