This is my first period after my abortion. They told me it was going to be irregular but I've been on my period now for almost 3 weeks. When I first came on my period I was directed to start my birth control NuvaRing. Is this normal that I am still bleeding?

WHEN I HAD MINE I PASSED BLOOD CLOTS,IT WAS NASTY. BUT ANYWAY,I HAD MINE FOR ABOUT THAT LONG,MAYBE LONGER. ITS JUST LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE A BABY,YOUR ON IT FOR 6 WEEKS. YOUR BODY WILL STILL FEEL LIKE YOU HAD A BABY EVEN AFTER AN ABORTION. IF YOUR PASSING CLOTS OR BLEESDING REALLY HEAVY,THEN I WOULD GO TO YOUR DOCTOR. GOOD LUCK.

It depends on what type of abortion that you had. When I had to have one for health reasons, my period only lasted about a week, maybe a little longer. Is it heavy bleeding? If it is, you should definitely just make an appt to go to the doc and get checked out. Bleeding for that long can cause you to become anemic and other problems as well. Also-take prenatal vitamins or an iron supplement so that you can possibly prevent becoming anemic.

Good luck.
