I don't think that would do much for his self esteem at all, in fact it will make it worse. Can you imagine what the other kids will say if they find out. Don't you have a friend or relative who has a daughter of similar age that could accompany him? At least that way he might feel more comfortable, especially if you let them spend some time together before the dance.

Why would you allow your 12 year old daughter to be at a dance with a bunch of high school boys??? In my opinion, that's totally inappropriate!

hmm...If no one knows they are siblings then yes. But if it's obvious, no. Don't make his self esteem even worse by getting teased.

i would say its OK... but kids are mean, if they know he is there with his little sis they will never let him live it down... perhaps another friend of the family, or cousin, that is closer to the same age. that he is comfortable with?
