Yes, and as long as I watch where I step I don't see a problem with it.
A layer of dirt is all I want to see on the soles of my feet when I am on the train.
Bare feet are great.

Almost daily, I'm always barefoot and I always travel by public transport. It's not gross or dangerous; our feet are made to keep pathogens out and we're at far greater risk of picking something up through our hands than through our feet. Just don't put your feet up on the dinner table or lick your toes! Injury is unlikely too; I'm often running late at the morning so I tend to hit my train station at a dead run; I've NEVER had a cut and even a minor splinter only happens about once a year (counting all places I walk, not just the train/bus stations). Feet get very tough very quickly, and are fully washable.

Frequently as in almost all the time (unless I need to take my flip flops from my bag if the station looks unsafe in the way of broken glass etc). I love going barefoot anywhere and everywhere possible, the stations are very clean where I am from so walking around in bare feet is no real problem so long as you watch your step.

If passengers are seen barefoot in the train station, they are requested to put their shoes on. This is Union Station in Toronto.

Yes frequently, just make sure you watch where you are stepping though, one of the few places I wear flip flops (if it appears unsafe) then bare feet again when I am on the bus/train.
