Your outdated motherboard does not support Core 2 Duo. Although your PC is still ok for internet and light office apps, it is not worth upgrading to a gaming PC.
Consider custombuilding or buying one on a PCIe platform. You could start off with a Geforce 8400GS or 8500GT paired with an Intel E2160 processor on a cheap i945 based motherboard.

You might be better off buying a new computer. i really doubt your motherboard will support core 2 duo processors. You'd also want to upgrade to 2 GB of RAM and if you only have 384 Mb right now you probably won't be able to go to 2GB. You'll also want a better video card than what you've got now if you want to run Vista and those games. You'd have to replace the whole motherboard and all your peripherals except the hard drive and cd-rom drives probably so you might be better off starting from scratch.

I love sims 2! I have all the eps. you'll need waaaay more ram. Id get another gig or so. You can upgrade your processor I believe. Be careful with vista however, some sims 2 games arent as compatible because they were released before vista. What type of graphics card do you have? You can always go to the websites for your games and find out the system specs for it (what cards, and ram, and processors it will work with)

I would suggest you to buy a new motherboard with the new Intel 965 Chipset. and upgrade the RAM to a 1 Gb 667Mhz DDR2 memory. And if you want the glass effect in Windows Vista , you must buy a graphics card like nVidia 8800GTS

You should go out and buy a intel core 2duo mother board prccesor combo. They are well worth it but make sure it 2.5ghz or better for better game play the next thing is to upgrade your memory to 1gb or more the last thing is to get a new graphics card if your is old or out dated i resommend that oyu buy it from newegg.com
