Light exerts pressure on a surface and in normal circumstances, it is too small to be measured but in space where there is very little friction and gravity (in free fall or deep space), a large and light solar sail can get pushed by light. A space craft deploying such a sail can develop a good velocity through that small but non-zero acceleration.

Light carries momentum. So when light is absorbed by a plate, it will transfer momentum to the plate. If the light were reflected, it would transfer twice as much momentum to the plate.
