Some engines have you remove the front Dogbone mount and use a puller to pull engine forward to get to the back plugs, mostly GM vehicles. If you would supply the year/make of vehicle we could probably be more of assistance.

Some engines are easier getting to from underneath.

It would have helped if you'd have included the year make and model of your car.
On my Mercury 24 valve V6 it's necessary to remove to top half of the intake manifold to remove the rear bank of plugs and wires. You occasionally can get to these plugs underneath the car with the proper set of 3/8 extensions, a universal joint and a fine toothed Sears ratchet wrench.

A lot of patience, a lot of ingenuity, type of car and depends also what tools do you have.

Some cars are easier to reach from the bottom of them. Like a 1992 Camaro RS. You have to put it on a lift.

There are special tools available to make it easier, although it still won't be easy. You can rent or borrow them from Auto Zone. Manufacturers do everything they can to make it hard for you to maintain your own vehicle, so that you have to bring it back to them for service. Good luck!

On some cars it's easier to remove the intake manifold and clean it and the EGR system at the same time.
