I'm originally from New York and I moved to the south to a small town out in the country. Sometimes I can't understand what someone has said to me, usually it's a man, and I'll ask them 3 or 4 times if they could please repeat themselves, there have been a few times when I actually had to say, "I'm sorry, it's not you it's me, I can't understand what you're saying." There is an old lady that lives in my apartment complex and once in a while she asks me for a ride to the grocery store, I don't understand a word she says at all, I only know she wants to go to the store, so I take her. She talks and talks, and I just nod, and say uh huh. Some southern accents are very hard to decipher for me.

Glaswegian - I worked with a guy, could not understand a word he said. It was embarrassing, after saying sorry, what? for the third time, I used to give up.
