That is an impossible question to be authoritative about. I reckon the ones with the biggest impact on the game in their day (as someone else pointed out - the game has changed).

Hard to go past guys like Graeme Langlands and Norm Provin amongst the old timers, but I still reckon the best two I ever saw live were Mal Meninga and Laurie Daley. Wally was great ... but the best?

And for impact on the game ... Johny Peard? The 'bomb' changed the game forever!

hard question, the game they play now with the ten meter rule, interchange, and all the pansy rules isn't the game they used to play.
it used to be a rough necks sport were you could be a little unfit but as long as you were a tough bastard you'd go well. now its more a athletes sport. some of the players today wouldn't of made it years ago but the same same can be said about the older player making in the current format.
I think Gordon Tallis was the last old school type of league player,
I'd say wally Lewis even though I hated him being from NSW.

Wairangi Koopu, from the Warriors..... cos he can run with the ball , then, for no reason at all, he can jump high into the air , and then drive his own head, hard into the ground, without Jonathon Thurston`s help.
A close second, would be John Hopuati, he knew the opposition players.. " inside and out."....he could analise them.
