As an Englishman who currently owns the biggest company(Citigroup) in USA i feel i must ask this.
Most Americans who i own are unaware they are being constantly lied to.
US history, US books, US films and even US current affairs have been given the "rose coloured spectacles" treatment by the USA government for the last 100 years.
I had to laugh the otherday when an American who i own told me "Robin hood was American, we were taught it in history"
Ahh bless him, but i sacked him anyway.

Many history books in this country have a slant. The British were evil in the 1700's. The Confederacy was evil in the 1800's. Germany, Italy, and Japan were evil in the 1900's. Iran and Syria are evil today as well as all terrorists everywhere. There is definitely a slant in history that says the US is always right. Much of the slant today is the American media of television which puts a spin on everything. The same story can sound differently on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC because they all have a certain bias. I like to watch all 3 because I get 3 different points of view.

Firstly to the voren person..umm.I hope your comment was tongue in cheek. Winnie-The-Pooh is not American. All you have to do is check the biography of AA Milne(BRITISH) to realise this.
To Sid....The majority of Americans I know are also oblivious(or perhaps ignorant by choice) of the lies perpetrated by their government throughout history. These days however, there is no excuse for this ignorance, especially when it comes to war related history, as all they have to do is check the US national security archives online to see the governments declassified documentation, which shows an entirely different picture to the propaganda they have been spoonfed. ALL of the "external evils" they pretend, and it has been happening for at least 100 years.
If any of them actually have the gonads to see ACTUAL history as it WAS I have provided the link to the NSA.(start with Chile...absorb that and work your way through all the declassified US government documentation re other countries)
But to finish with 2 Douglas MacArthur quotes:
"It is part of the general pattern of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy which was bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of fear. "
"I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within. "
Last I checked, General MacArthur was not a liberal "lefty" democrat type.

Same reason the british Government lies to us. What you don't know doesn't hurt you.
In reply to Michael H. You didn't save our "butts" during WW2. You were protecting your own. If Britain and the Commonwealth had fallen in 1940 you would have had the combined forces of Germany, Italy, Japan and the Soviet Union (at that time an ally of Germany) knocking on your front door via Siberia. Be thankful we kept going with the usual British Grit!!

Just because we're being lied to, doesn't mean we believe the lies
... but you're not wrong, college was where I learned that US high school history books we're made up ... then again, you're so smart you may have already known that
so smart that you would judge us all based on one American not knowing where robin hood came from ... very classy

That Robin Hood comment is likely more an indictment on the attack our public schools have received from so called "conservatives" during the last 30 years. Now we just teach toward the standardized tests we give the kids a month and a half every school year.

If you have come out of your Dreaming and have cleared your befogged mind, let me first of all correct you that you hire or employ people and don't OWN them.Second and last,if there was even an iota of truth in rosing (coloring) of American history, the free press there would have torn it down long before you learn t to wear your pants. The rest is obvious.(note:- I am not an American but an admirer of that largest functional democracy in the world )

Why are you British sticking your noses into our business?
Seems to me the last time you did that we kicked your butts, just like we did some 50 years earlier.
And didn't we save your butts twice in the last 100 years?
I think you Brits should keep your opinions about us to yourselves.
But before you give me a thumbs down, I thoroughly agree with you about the revisionist historians. It is called liberalism and it is disgusting. I hear people saying that our Founding Fathers were in fact athiests rather than very religious Christians. These liberals are sick and disgusting. And you should be very concerned in England as well. They are slowly eating away at your society too.
Maybe we should start a war on liberalism in an effort to save out countries.
Hey Sid, the only thing of me you own is that which I flush. And even that you have to pay a tax on.

You don’t have to lie to be our friend.
Please don’t tell us you are naive enough to think that any government tells its citizens the tooth, the whole tooth & nothing but the tooth do you?
What was the net earning of CitiGroup in 2005 & what have your analysts projected for 2008?
