No taxes coming out of our pockets to pay for this War-only a select group of kids sacrificing their lives-generally middle and lower class kids-would the War end sooner if their were a draft-if Taxes were raised(cut out the loopholes for the multinationals making billions off of our kids blood)-Conservatives as a whole are pro War because they make no sacrifices.

Wrong--the fact of the matter is, Americans are not the same people who put up with "Meatless, Wheatless and Sweetless" days to fight wars in the past...the Administration can't call on the American people to make sacrifices here at home because they won't--period. Too many gutless wonders among the liberals who would go nuts if there were't enough milk for their latte schmattes in the morning.

Not just taxes, Bush never went on TV and asked for volunteers to join up, even when the military was having recruiting problems. They still are having problems actually, which is why they have to give out huge bonuses. He also never let people know what they can do, other than a couple of throwaway lines in his State of the Union. He never seriously tried to create that civilian reserve corps he mentioned in his state of the union speech, and he never really explained to the American people in deep terms what we could expect from this war. If he had of, and did so on a regular basis (think Roosevelts fireside chats) I garentee you support for the war would be 65% or higher. I still wouldn't support it, but at least I could respect that he was being straight with us.

Uuuh, what are you talking about? No taxes coming from our pockets? Where in heck do you think the billions of dollars to pay for the war are coming from!? OUR TAXES!! We're making a BIG sacrifice for this war. All of us are. We're sacrificing our social security, education, labor, medicare, and everything else that our taxes SHOULD be paying for, not to mention our international credibility. Those are BIG sacrifices. Bush doesn't ask for more than this because he doesn't want to go from a 30% approval rating to being impeached and thrown in jail where he belongs.

So you think that the chimp is "asking so little from the American people in his war"? Get real! Isn't the loss of some of America's best and brightest enough of a sacrifice? The politics of this war is nothing short of huge profits for a select few big businesses in this war for oil and building up the countries hit hardest by this war. Aren't you sick of all the rhetoric that has been told to the American people to "stay the course" and that "we are making progress"? What progress have we made in the last 5 years? NONE, except to continue to send blank checks to Iraq and spending billions of dollars in aid to a country that has no real idea of what democracy is nor what they must do to achieve it. I am appalled that some Americans actually think we are making progress in this unplanned and unwinnable war. Well, I vote too and I will NEVER vote for a politician that is so "flexible" and bendable by politics that they forget who they represent and what they promised to do to acquire public office!
As for taxes - we haven't yet begun to pay for this miserable war - but our kids will be paying for it for decades!

I guess if they did, then Bush would have to stop borrowing money for Bush's war. These GOP NEOCON GOONS are happy to let others make sacrifices. It would re open the debate on the way we got into the mess and why we are there.
Would not want THAT to happen would we?

Actually it's a major sacrifice. We're sacrificing our future. The debt we acrue is all put onto our childrens and grandchildren's backs. Cowardly, yes. We should be ashamed. It's all so we can max out our national credit card and appear fiascally viable.

For a country of the stature of America.it's not a War as such but only a localized conflict.Once engaged in such a commitment, the aspects mentioned by you are only of secondary nature, the prime concern being the success of the stated mission.
