The EU functions a bit like colonial America did before the colonies ratified the Articles of Confederation, in many respects.
As you point out, Economically the EU functions as a bloc and therefore is an economic superpower just slightly larger than than United States in overall GDP.
Politically it can and has acted in "grand concert" where the various national ministers agree on a course of action, however this is rare and it is much more often that
consensus cannot be reached and there is effective paralysis.
The EU has a parliament, but this is largely toothless when compared to the US Congress or Senate , the Bundestag or Landtag of Germany or the Peoples Assembly in China however it's relative power is increasing.
Militarily, the EU has only recently started to coordinate and function as a unit , mostly is as an adjuct to and as an artifact of the NATO alliance, which includes American forces.
Based on previous historical confederations, by about 2050 or so one might expect that the EU would function more like a modern variant the early US government in most respects.
See the CIA page on the EU and US
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...
I also recommend the excellent "Rise and Fall of the Great Powers".
As far as a common languages, that is an EXCELLENT reason this movement towards supra federal government has not moved along as easily as it might have otherwise.
I suspect that a Unified European States will eventually have several "official" languages, German, English, French, Spanish etc.

The EU is Federalized. Sort of.
Each country in the EU is a sovereign nation and I believe each follows a federalized model of government. The EU is not a country, it is a unique alliance between a plethora of soverign states and looking (or not depending) to take on more members. Like all alliances everything is done by treaty. The EU parliament is set up by treaty.
Each state actor (country) retains it sovereignty. While it has agreed to partake of an economic treaty that has several other aspect this does not detract from the fact that each is still a sovereign nation. Each is still responsible for its own defenses. With all of that I find it difficult to believe that the GDP will change all that much as the EU has a GDP already and federalizing won't change that.
So why don't they federalize? They're sovereign nations with their own laws and cultures and histories, including over a thousand years worth of waring with each other. The governments don't want to federalize the EU ane it seems that the people, the citizens, in the EU don't want that either. That is enough in democracies.
As to what language would be the official EU language? Pluralize that and you have your answer. What languages would be the official languages? The same ones they are now.

World Bank figures are outdated. The EU GDP for 2007 will be $15.7 trillion. We do not need a political federation in the EU to better the USA economy, or for any other reason. Indeed the political compromises generated by 27 diverse nations is more likely to detract from economic growth and wealth.

Anyone remember the Soviet Union, and that turned out well. If i was a modern day dictator how would i take over europe, how would i do it? Well hitler, napolean and countless others tried force, and it didnt work - but the most devastating form of modern day weapons is beauracracy.
We didnt win the second world war, we just put off our defeat for 60 years.
We were told by our own government (who were told by the EU) that england would not simply become a state of the USE but it has all the hallmarks of a modern day soviet union.

EU is not a one country concept. It is only a Union of many countries ,each retaining its individual stautus. They only follow a common economic policies. There is no common language suggested.EU is viable as Euro proved to be strong international currency competing with US $.The success of EU depends on integration of economies of member nations and following common agreed economic policies.

EU has the potential to be a great group to reckon with if able to constitute as one federal entity. However, the problem will be on the people who wanted to be distinct as different countries.

the only top element we want is the criminals and thieves of the ecu being area of a superpower. What we interior the united kingdom want is way less ecu and extra united kingdom. the ecu is growing a Nazi run dictatorship with the Germans ind French interior the leading edge. the quicker we in Britain are given the promised referendum on the ecu the better, because we straight away heading for civil disobedience and this authorities will only use the phobia guidelines to fasten up all who disagree with them.

The EU is trying to do just that. Although all it will do is create a SUPER rich people and very poor. But I guess that doesn't really matter to many people because we are nothing more than serfs to the rich.

You are right. In future when the world is divided into superstates and there are super billionaires everywhere, one guy like Abramovich would buy up little old England and turn it into a golf course. Enjoy!

Because the EU is only a diplomatic and economic deal, each state still has its own sovreignty, it wouldnt make sense for them to become one, theres too much tradition , history, and cultural differences for it to be viable
