no the council would issue you with a summons to move on within 7 days . if you dont they would then take you to court where you would get a big fine . this country is just not fair.

Common ground is actually owned (in common) by the local community, so you would very likely be trespassing and get moved on by the police. That doesn't stop pikeys from trying, though.
It used to be the law (and maybe still is in some places) that if you could erect a cottage on common land in a day and have smoke coming out of the chimney by nightfall, you had a right to the land.

I actually know of a guy on the Big Island of Hawaii who built a cabin on some land he sort of got in a drug deal or card game, something strange.
He doesn't even have title to the land but has been raising his family on the land for the last 20 yeas or so.I don't think he has ever had a "real" job in his life. they have no running water and only a generator for electric. They use a water catchment system and get rain water. No flush toliet or shower in the cabin.
I think they are insane, I know I couldn't or wouldn't want to live that roughly.

Depends which country you want to go live in. In some countries no-one is allowed to move you if you have been living on the property for longer than 24 hours.... South Africa is one of them.

That's what travellers do! Usually however, local authorities own common land and will move you on.

Yes. Good idea.
You also could try going to college. That seems to work for millions of Americans.
