Not much except keeping themselves in the headlines. Wouldn't be so bad except they kept promoting themselves during their campaigns with impossible promises. The usual political nonsense used to get elected and of course don't come through on them.

Democrats have a slim majority in the House and the vote in the Senate is 49 to 49 with two independents (one of which is Lieberman). That is hardly a majority. Plus, the Republicans have stated that they intend to block anything the Democrats do so that they cannot accomplish anything. Republicans are filibustering everything (Remember when they threatened the "Nuclear Option" to prevent the Democrats from filibustering? What happened to the "straight up and down vote?). We can only hope that Americans realize what the Republicans are doing and throw them out in the '08 elections.

Democratic Politicians have not taken control, as you suggest. 1. The President would veto anything they send up. 2. The Republicans Filabuster everything that goes onto the Senate Floor. 3. The right-wing Supreme Court would overrule anything that goes against the monopolies they're in the pocket of.

Not much, because they haven't taken "control". An uncompromising (and misguided) Republican still runs the White House and the Dems have too slim of a majority in Congress to defeat filibusters or vetoes.

It's kind of tough to get anything done, though, with a bunch of neocon nutters running around.

One one vote majority is hardly Veto or Filibuster proof.
