Im 38 weeks pregnant and am measuring exactly 38cms. I have put on about 10kgs the whole pregnancy. So I was just wondering what the average birth weight for newborn is. thanks

I think the average birth weight is about 3.5 kg, or 7lb 9oz, average length is about 50cm or about 24 inches, and I think the average head circumference is about 35cm or about 17 inches. My boy was average with everything. But his weight was 8lb 5oz or 3.8kg, but he was a second baby and a boy (they are usually bigger and heavier). My daughter was 3.3kg or 7lb 6oz, 49cm long and her head circumference was 34cm. No matter how much weight you put on or don't put on has no baring on your baby's size, it all comes down to genetics. But remember they still have to find a way out, lol.

My baby was born when I was 39 weeks - she was 5 lbs 8.75 ounces. She is now 5 weeks old and weighs 9 lbs. There is a theory that when they're born that small they put on weight quick. Not sure if that's true or not, but she gained 1 lb a week for 3 weeks straight. I don't know if there is such a thing as average size, b/c some women go full term and deliver 5 lb babies or 10 lb babies. As long as they're healthy, that's what matters. Best of luck to you!

I'd safely say you would probably be having around about a 7-8 pd baby. (3-3.5kg )
Average these days is anywhere from 6.5-9pd! I measured right on target with my second (but put on about 15kg)and had an 8pd2oz (3.680kg's) bub. You will probably find you will put on another 1-3kgs in the next 2-3 weeks depending on when you deliver.
(my first was bigger at 9pd and I measured big and put on heaps of weight! 25kg!)

I think the average weight is 6-8 pounds Both my kids were 8pounds 3 ounces boy and a girl

I was jus about 2 ask this question...lol. I went for a growth scan yesterday..Im 34 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was woried my baby was 2small as i havent put on alot of weight an my stomach (compared 2 others) is tiny, but they said that she probly weighs about 4lb 11 now (which is what i weighed when i was born) if i go full term she should weigh about 7lb. This is apparently an ok weight.
