The recent incidents of tasers being used on people who are not showing or carrying a weapon is getting out of control. What is wrong with the government? Don't they realize that the tasers have caused deaths and may cause more on people who have medical problems?

What is your opinion?

It seems to me if people know they are going to be tasered (electrocuted) by cops, then they would have even MORE reason to resist a police officer grabbing them. No one wants to be electrocuted. It's painful. It HAS led to people being killed or injured.

Are we as citizens supposed to be afraid of the police? More people might start running from the police or fighting them off out of fear of being tasered.

I can understand using the taser if the person has a gun, knife or other weapon.

Sorry, John...I disagree. The police really only have four options when dealing with a combative person... (1) brute force, (2) their batons, (3) shoot them, and (4) tasering. Tasering is the LEAST likely to cause permanent injury to the perp. Today's standards have cranked down the level of charge that a taser gets, so causing any medical problems is HIGHLY unlikely. Actually, policemen usually taser each other when they are learning how to use those things, so it can't be that bad.

I can't imagine ever using a taser gun on anyone in a hospital bed. I think the officer misjudged the situation and acted inappropriately.

It proves that cops can not do there jobs the right way they have to do it using force or by ways like the tasers were they use it to do there job. How many cops does it take to put one person down ?

I saw one incident on BBC and Aljazeera, and I was utterly shocked, not only by the brutality of the police, but also by the craven audience. In France, or even in Ireland people would have helped the victim, I'm certain.

Land of the free... Yeah... Right.

No they should use what they like - sick of drunks and people kicking up a fuss disrespecting the law - give 'em a BLAST of the Gun - that will get 'em moving to the police van a bit more sprightly.......!!!!!

If someone is asked to do something by the police they ought to do it not stand there whingeing about it.

PS - if these people are sick what are they doing winding the police up? They should be at home if they are sick and not out causing aggro
