Trying to get a DVD playing on my WindowsXP laptop. Using VLC Media Player but the DVD just won't play. Strange considering VLC is supposed to be good! Please help ASAP.

Make sure that you downloaded the PC version and not the Mac Version. Next it may be because of the content on the DVD as well.
Those are a couple of things as well as what is the speed and type of Media that the DVD is. If you have a Laptop that only supports a 2X or 4X Media and the DVD was burned at 8X or 16X then that could be your problem as well.

YES. VLC plays almost all types of File Formats except .MOV files.

k -
1.- uninstall yr vlc media player
2.- go to http://www.videolan.org and download new version of
vlc player for yr operating system of course
3.- put dvd in dvd drive
4.- play

try updating ur codec
