Don't they have some networks that MIC players during the game already? Not to answer your question but I don't think it would be expensive and easily damaged.

What? For sound effects? Don't bet on it happening. 1) The other team could hear the other team's play call in the huddle and 2) it would be expensive to impliment and could easily be damaged upon impact.
