There are temperamental minx's they come in all shapes and sizes are a breed onto themselves. I myself have found feed little and often and a wee sugar lump ever now and again will keep them sweet..Over feeding will lead to the ruination of a good one.

How often did he ask you to feed it? Typically I feed once a day. I never feed ponies grain however because only a small amount can cause founder (most pony breeds are adapted to feed on very poor vegetation so grain is too rich for them) However you should follow the owners request.

Never heard of shank's pony, I always thought he just had a mare. Different parts of the world different names I guess.
I've always found that if I take care of myself so will Shank's mare.

A pony should only have about 1/2 scoop a day of grain, and about 4 flakes. If you feed them too much grain they will founder because it is so rich.

Car. Too lazy for a bicycle, can't ride a motor bike and don't care to ride a pony. Poppy

Depends on how far and how fast you want it to run. I would say three times a day is normal.

I'd feed it every time it gets hungry but not enough to make it full.
Figure that one out. :-)
