i think the above link reflects what actully happen. Also the noose happen in sept the beating took place in january. 4 months later. it hard to say the two is directly connected.

Maybe my question should have been what determines a severe beating, because two black eyes, facial cuts and body and head bruising to some of You dont think so. One hard kick to a person temple , or upward thrust to the nose can kill anthor person people

Those six kids should be punished. to me that part is not a race issue . i say this to the black community, pick your platforms carefully. these six deserve whatever the law throws at them if and only when they are found guilty Justice is not equal and i do not mean divide by race. but by a counties law within a state if these action took place in a city it would have not been big news.

rally for the jena six , what a joke!
i think there are more injustices around this country to rally for then these six stupid punks. the only reason this made news is because they are black and for some reason black leaders are railing the cries of injustices, not in this case . its a poor reason too
rally the black culture by declaring racism for punks .

the young man in Georgia that was put away for ten years because he had oral sex with a person a year younger then him now thats something to rally around , but i guess that was black on black and its not racism. dont be stupid as a culture cause your not. If al sharpton behind it , then i worry not because he is actually someone that helps he promotes himself first. wow dont be stupid

I don't believe any of this is racially motivated at all at the kids level. By that I mean they are dumb kids doing dumb stuff and getting in trouble. Where it becomes political is when you have adults stepping in and saying that the beating was motivated by the noose incident and the rest of the community choosing sides.

The noose incident was handled poorly. The beating poorly. The people that should be scrutinized harshly are the administrators and adults that allowed this to get as out of hand as it is.

if the guys have violent criminal records, then they should be given heavy sentences.

And what happened four months before the beating, as wrong as it was, is in the past and nobody did anything about it.

If you want something done about the noose ordeal then damnit do something about it instead of just bringing it into a focus point for a different crime.

come on people.....
Don't tell me that you take Al Sharpton seriously, the man claims that Paris got off easy partly because she's white! Bullshit that had nothing to do with it(it was all about the money).

EDIT: "and if 6 white guys beat up a white boy or vice versa then this thing would have never gone to court."

It kills me to see your ignorance. Most likely the beat up kid's parents would press charges on the 6 kids, no matter if those kids were of different skin color or not.
And yes, it would be ATTEMPTED MURDER.

Hanging up nooses are not a crime. I'm not saying it's right, but there is no crime in it.

I think what makes this attempted murder is that there were six people beating up one person, and they continued to beat him up after he was unconscious. It doesn't matter that he was up and about later on.

In a hypothetical situation, if someone held a gun up to you, but didn't get a chance to get a shot off, because they were caught, that would still be attempted murder, even though you didn't have a scratch on you.

Six people against one person is deadly force, and especially since they were beating up on him after he passed out.

it is a crime, maybe not attempted murder or enough to call a shoe a deadly weapon. but it's still a crime. And yes it does only take one blow to the head to kill someone. There was a fight once in a school somewhere one boy hit hit another in the face as he was turning around and because of the angle of the boys neck when he got punched he died almost instantly. it was ONE punch. these boys are lucky they didnt cause more severe harm to the victim.if the boy had died would everyone still be rallying for them saying "saying oh well they were provoked"

its not like the town said oh you're black were throwing you in jail for fighting. one of the attackers has 2 previous batery charges...whats that say about him? this obviously is a repeat thing for him.

you should really take time to know the entire facts before you start maiking assumptions. No one is saying hey they should be excluded because they are black. The is no doubt that a crime was committed...... more than one crime (hanging a noose is definitley a crime.... a hate crime which is a felony.... but nobody was charged with that) The issue is the fact that he's 16, was charged as an adult, charged with 2nd degree attempted murder and facing 22 years for a fukkin fight. That's crazy.

first of all, why did the black kids have to ack permission to sit under a "white tree". wtf is a white tree exactly. Last time I check trees were brown and green.... not white. Then the very next day 3 nooses were hanging from the tree. the prinicpal wanted the white kids expelled and they should have been. But then you get the redneck superintedent stepping in saying it was a "boyish prank" gtfoh. then as a futher slap in the face.... the white kids were given 3 days in house suspention. do you even know what in house suspention is?? that's where you still go to school but they say "you suspended" it's like a fukking time out.

the black kids were threatend by the white D.A. They didn't attempt to murder anybody. True they whooped his azz (but if somebody was taunting me day in and out calling me a n*gger..... i would whoop that azz too). This kid was released from the hospital 3 hours later and proceeded to go to a party the SAME night and get drunk. but he was almost murdered. right.

So the issue is not that they are black. it's the fact that they were treated and charged unfairly in a situation where all of the kids were wrong. And the fact that Mychal Bell's conviction was overturned and the charges have yet to be refiled in juvinile court .......and he's still sitting in jail (in an adult prison) doesn't make the situation any better.

This is not 1955. Black people have rights just like everyone else. The constitution and the laws of the land are here to protect us also..... not just the white folks honey. So until we are treated as fair as our white counterparts..... you better believe we gonna ralley if we have to .

I say it's a crime whatever colour your skin.
Do these people believe they can get off because they are black?
It doesn't seem reason enough to me!!
Do they think that beating a white person is ok?

you need to get ur facts straight the boy didnt have any facial cuts and he only had one black eye and a minor concussion and if 6 white guys beat up a white boy or vice versa then this thing would have never gone to court. It kills me to see how there are so many racist whites on yahoo answers.

It is absolutely a crime. If 6 people get into a fight in school so bad that the victim is seen at a party that night dancing and drinking, then it is not attempted murder.
