Can anyone explain the correct fitting for these hinges. I have fitted a pair but the window will not close. It is the correct size but I think I have positioned the hinge incorrectly.

storm hinges are an unusual shape and should only be fitted to a storm proof sash ..as the storm proof sash has an outer shroud to prevent water being driven in ..the hinges must therefore not only allow the window to open it must all so move outwards to allow the shrouded part to clear the frame ..check with other windows the position but they are not usually a problem ..have you rebated the hinges?..if not the frame will be too far over to close

Most storm windows have the hinge on the top of the window. But, the are all types of hinges.

Hmmmm? Not enough detail in your question to give you a good answer. Perhaps your right and positioned the hinge incorrectly.

If you have other windows with that type of hinge check the position on them.
Hope it helps.
