Please see your doctor because severe abdominal cramping can be a sign of a problem like endometriosis. Also, please check with them to find out how much of Advil or Tylenol or other product is safe to take in the mean time.

Cramping is a common problem with menstruation. They can be quite debilitating and painful. Especially in younger years like your teens and 20's. Taking over the counter medication is fine as long as you follow the label directions. You might consider taking birth control pills. Many of them keep your cycle short and light. If you become pregnant I would avoid all medications except those advised by your doctor.

I used to have bad abdominal pain during my period, and I used to take 2 pills of a pain killer and I used to place a bottle or something of hot water on my stomach (near the ovaries) and it would really help.
I have heard from a gyno that taking a pill of "indometacin" (not sure of spelling) a week before the period twice a day after a meal would relieve all the pain, though never tried myself

yes it would be harmful for pregnancy. and yes its harmful to take more than the amount it says to take on the packet. have you ever thought to change the pill your taking? talk to you doctor becuase if their that bad the doctor can give you a script for better period pain killers. but for a more natural remody, plenty of hot things like soup and hot milo and a hot water bottle and a little rest may work. but yea, try inflammation pills if regular pain killers arent working. they work for me though. if they dont then ask your doctor for help..
good luck :)
