The radio is a distraction and a part of your mind wants to listen to it, turning it down allows you to concentrate more on what is most important to you at that particular time. Take a tip for survival, no not have your car stereo on at all as this is the only way to keep you reactions tuned in to keeping you alive. This may sound odd and no doubt some will dissagree but if you want to stay alive give yourself the best possible chance and stay focused on your driving.

There is a scientific reason for this , asomething about heightening one of your senses by removing the input to another. So in order to concentrate on the visual sense you remove the input to your aural (ear) sense. or something like that!

Funny, i've seen some people do that!!

But i dont do that!!

Something about enhancing the other senses by reducing the load on one sense.. i.e. - they put more focus on their sense of sight by reducing the load on sense of sound!
