I agree! And why would they have "rotting" meat in their apartment? It beggars belief like much else in the PR stream from the McCann camp

Okay, first of all, let me be very clear. I am not defending the McCanns. I am simply answering your question about why they would have food in their holiday villa.
My husband and I are just average middle-class people from the US. We usually vacation at least twice a year. When we book our lodgings, I always try and find a place which has a kitchen included in the suite. The reason why we do it is because while we can afford to eat out for every meal while on vacation, we don't like to. Sometimes we just want to hang out, watch a movie or read books, and make pests of ourselves with the housekeeping staff. We usually try to find a place where there will be, at minimum, a small fridge and a microwave oven. A regular stove is a big bonus. It just gets tiresome having to eat out every meal while you are away from home. Often, on our travels, we have found something really tasty which is common in the area, such as a really good fruit which is in season, or a kind of cheese or bread which is popular in the area. We will buy a good deal of that so that we can have breakfast or lunch in our room if we wish, or just for snacks. Since we have the money for good restaurants, but we don't choose to go to them all the time, I would imagine it's the same if you have a lot of money. It just isn't fun to have to eat out all the time. I imagine that would especially be the case with three small children.
As for the McCanns themselves, I will simply say I am getting tired of the ridiculous stories. No matter which way I look at it, it always comes back to the most basic of questions: who leaves children that small alone in a room? I keep hearing that the dining table at which they were seated was only 100 yards (100 meters) away from the door to their room, but that the path was a winding one, and that the door was essentially hidden from their line of sight. Who does that? I mean really? To make it even more ridiculous, I read the other day that the resort they were staying at has babysitting services; one has only to call the desk and someone will come out and stay with your children while you are out. I guess I just don't understand that. I don't have children, but I cannot imagine leaving kids that small alone--I don't know why people who actually have them would think it's perfectly acceptable.
The whole mess stinks to me. I have a feeling someone is not telling anything near the truth, and I fear it's not the police who are lying.

Well paid or not, most parents of children (small or otherwise) have food in their holiday apartment. You can't keep rushing in and out to get food 24/7 whenever they are hungry. Particularly important for little children who are often hungry and enjoy eating some familiar foods rather than the "foreign" food that would probably be available. I don't know why they said the food was rotting, but again, who really knows - maybe they were transporting it somewhere to dispose of properly. I don't see it as odd that they had food in their holiday house. I see it as normal!

Sorry, i speak as an anti McCann but when you're with your kids you cook. I don't suppose you can surive on your evening meal alone and let's face it - whatever the circumstances of their daughters disappearance I don't imagine they were in an eating out frame of mine a lot of the time. Even I have to say this is a bit of an unfair question.
** Oh sorry, have just read Faiths post and I obviously posted an answer that differs from her What Anti McCann;s should say page in the Daily Mail. What are the chances of that happening eh?

They could have made lunchtime sandwiches and snacks? But the rotting meat kept and put in car for transfer is a bit far fetched.

Most resort rooms have a fridge & a little kitchenette where one can potter about for a midnight snack or stay in, if one so wishes....
With 3 little ones around, am sure home cooked snacks, midnight munches & meals were a regularity with the McCanns (Um...those who slate them will claim they didn't even bother to feed their babies...)

oh god i bet the police haven't considered this. Have you contacted them yet?
Why don't you call 999 and tell them you have a new line of enquiry? They might put you on the force.
