It will always end. Why does it matter so much? What is the value of life? If you kill someone, is it a crime to shorten the inevitable outcome? Is an assassin any less honorable than the common man? If I believe in the after-life, then this life could only matter if it effects a later life. If I don't believe in after life and I think I'll just dissappear into void after I die, why on earth would it be a crime for me to commit mass genocide and terrorism?

As an extra note, I don't agree with the above, I just wanted to see what people would say.

This is where you have the potential to have a never ending cycle of everything you do or say is meaningless in the grand scheme of things and therefore there is no point in contributing as whatever you contribute will be meaningless. If you are firmly of that belief than there isn't really anything anyone can say or do to convince you otherwise. My belief is to be aware of who you are - whoever we are and whatever we do in life we have an impact on more people than we actually appreciate. Of course there is immediate family, friends and loved ones. However there is also the wider scale of the community as well. Just by existing we feed into some sort of unspoken and misunderstood, human and natural conciousness and it is our responsability to make life more positive. It can be (and often is) in small ways, but in those small ways we have a ripple effect. If everyone does something small then it becomes something big and something huge! It is about realising that like or not that is what we are as human beings and that you, we, all of us can make a difference. We just need to be able to stop being self self self and look at the bigger picture!

Because not everyone feels the same way you do.

I dont know what the purpose of life in general is, but my goal for my own life is to educate myself and gain as much knowledge as I can. Hopefully before I die and meet whatever waits, if anything, I can share what Ive gained with someone else who will carry on the tradition.

You asked why on earth it would be a crime for you to commit those acts. You would be robbing people of their beliefs, and robbing other people of the influence that all of those killed would have had. Why on earth wouldnt it be a crime?

Yes that's one way of looking at life... but I think we "naturally" select / differentiate between "good" and "bad". There are certain things we, as human beings, simply cannot accept. There may be few exceptional people but in general, we do not like to hurt others. We may cheat people easily but when it comes to extreme acts such as killing, we do refrain from it. I think even animals and birds have that much sense in them. I don't know where we get that from but we do.

Yes..its true that life would end without a doubt..but u see, this is where the point that u mentioned comes to play..'believing in the afterlife'.Spirituality/Religion plays a large role in your question..do you belive in God?Do you believe in the afterlife? If you do, then life on earth is a means of achieving your well-being in the afterlife, which of course would make it important. If you dont...well guess u already know the answer to that...

Hmm,heavy.First,it doesnt matter. When you and everyone who knew you dies,it will be like you never existed. The value of life is that we can even sit here and discuss the value of life. And then you kinda lose me.Lotta mumbo jumbo.Dont think too much.

Life is important so because you only get one chance at it, you are given the chance to enjoy it and and see the world. Then it is nature to produce children so that they can carry on and experience life, and so on, and so on. It is selfish and evil to take that choice away from someone else, you cant decide when another life should end or how they should live their life. I think that if life is so unimportant to someone, they should end their own life rather than ending someone elses.

Life s purpose is to exist. The mind, although it may consider the possibility, can never allow the acceptance of a purposeless existence or the extinguishment of that existence. God is life. God is forever.
Life is forever. I AM THAT I AM.
