I will be going to see my doctor in a few weeks but I'm looking to see if anyone has anymore information for me to discuss with her in the mean time :D I have Insulin resistance and was taking metformin before I became pregnant, I put on a ton of weight while pregnant (70lbs) I'm still 45lbs over my pre pregnancy weight and have not really been loosing any weight even tho I have been breastfeeding. I want to start my Metformin again as its the only thing that helps me control my weight and sugars but don't want to stop breastfeeding I have been reading information about taking Metformin while breastfeeding and how it can be beneficial, however older information says its harmful so I'm a bit confused... Does anyone have personal experience either way? Any help is welcomed :D

I knew someone that continued to take Glucophage (generic: metformin) thru her pregnancy but I don't know if she ever said that she continued to use it while nursing her daughter (who is now about 5 years old).

I would recommend checking with your pharmacist as well to see what they say.
